When my wife first started “couponing” I thought that she might save a buck or two. I hoped that we would at least make enough money to pay for the newspaper subscription. Then, as I saw the amount of time that she put into it, I questioned if it was really worth the effort. When she started showing me how much money she was saving I said “you go, Mama!” Now, with an average savings of fifty percent per trip, I refer to her as the “Coupon Queen.”

In today’s economy with cutbacks, downsizing, foreclosures and rising cost of everything, except my paycheck, saving $200.00 to $500.00 per month or more on groceries could make the difference between going on vacation or not, or possibly even paying the mortgage or not.

Now, coupon and sale shopping has become a family event! The kids love to help cut coupons and help collect them from the stores. And they have learned that if it’s not on sale with a coupon, mama isn’t buying! J  Instead of just asking for items in the stores, we hear “Next time ___ is on sale and you have a coupon, can we get it?”  They are learning at a very young age the importance and value of shopping with sales and coupons.

Also, as a home schooling family, when our children are “playing store” for school work, no shopping spree is complete without their coupons!

I have been a stay-at-home mom since 2001 after the birth of my first child.  My husband and I both knew that we wanted to homeschool our children, and that putting them in daycare was not an option for us.  Through a great deal of practice and research, I have found practical methods to help save money.  With rising costs, it is imperative to many people to cut their costs.  My methods are tried and true. I have shopped this way for approximately 4 years now and I can’t imagine how we would have made ends meet without it.

My goal in writing this book was to help others.  I enjoy helping people and see this as a tremendous need for so many.  I have known many women who desperately wanted to be home with their children but were unable to do so.  For some, shopping like this has allowed them to be home. For others, they were able to work part-time.  But, in this day and age, for many it is a matter of survival.
